Floresville ISD presents early STAR and EOC results showing gains across grades

"My name is Brenda Jones, and I'm the district federal programs and assessment coordinator," Brenda Jones said as she opened the assessment presentation. Jones walked trustees through early STAR results (grades 3–8) and EOC outcomes (English I & II, Algebra I, Biology, U.S. History), emphasizing that her presentation reports on all students and that these are preliminary, early results.
Jones said 13 of 18 performance indicators increased and highlighted campus-level gains (for example, a 5th-grade science increase and improvements in 4th-grade math at multiple campuses). She explained that cohort movement and accelerated placement affected 7th- and 8th-grade math comparisons: "40% of our 7th graders took 8th grade math this year," which alters how meets/masters percentages appear at each grade. Miss Brooks summarized action plans including longer instructional blocks, MTSS/intervention time, and targeted PD for algebra and secondary math.
Board members asked clarifying questions about cohort effects and next steps; administration said campuses will implement data dashboards, PLCs and targeted interventions to address areas of struggle while sustaining gains.
