Jim Baum, who identified himself as president of the Santa Cruz Astronomy Club, asked if there is "somebody in the county that I can talk to about lighting around the schools specifically?" He offered the club's equipment, volunteers and limited funds to support motion-sensor lighting and classroom astronomy programming at darker sites.
Another resident, identified as Shlok, suggested the COE explore donation models (similar to PTAs) so community members could invest in programs such as alternative education. Trustees thanked both speakers and said staff would follow up.
