The Kay County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously May 18 to approve a batch of routine claims, deposit resolutions and transfers of appropriations, along with a contract for juvenile detention services. The board also approved multiple resolutions declaring equipment surplus and authorized a $9,391.97 payment from the county Deductible Fund for a sheriff’s vehicle damaged in a storm.
The BOCC approved the Court Clerk and Assessor monthly reports for April 2026, accepted a $416,321.08 second payment for Enterprise Road overlay into Highway District 1 funds, and authorized several transfers of appropriations — including moving $6,000 from Sheriff Maintenance & Operations to a lease-purchase account. A contract to use Canadian County Juvenile Detention services was approved at a rate of $36 per child per day. Motions throughout the meeting were recorded as carried: Kreger, aye; Jones, aye; Shanks, aye.
Chairman Jeff Kreger noted a number of purchase orders across departments and reminded the public that "details concerning the above-listed purchase orders/claims are available in the County Clerk’s Office." The meeting concluded with an adjournment at 10:05 a.m.
