Administrator Joshua Stevenson presented proposed updates to Cass County’s Personnel Rules & Policies to align the County’s Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) with state law amendments effective July 1, 2025. He said the revisions permit the County to require supporting documentation when an employee uses sick leave for more than two consecutive scheduled workdays; Commissioner Scott Bruns moved to approve the changes and the Board voted unanimously.
County staff said the changes are intended to maintain compliance with state requirements while preserving employee protections; the Board approved the update as presented and directed staff to implement revised procedures and notify departments.
