Floresville ISD to open Early College High School; 60 students accepted into first cohort

District staff announced the launch of Floresville ISD Early College High School (ECHS) for 2025–26 and described partnerships, funding and benchmarks. "We had 72 students apply. We accepted 60 into our 1st cohort," a district presenter said, noting the program will allow students to pursue an associate degree while completing high school at no cost to families.
The presentation said the district secured a two-year $100,000 TEA planning grant and will apply for an implementation grant in October 2025 that, if approved, would fund the program for two more years. Staff outlined the ECHS benchmarks—school design, partnerships, target population (first-generation, low-income and minority students), academic infrastructure, student supports and outcome-based measures for access, achievement and attainment.
Staff emphasized that ECHS students will follow a specific course sequence to earn at least 60 transferable college credit hours and that the district will remain in provisional TEA designation for four years while meeting outcome measures. No enrollment-related action was required at this meeting.
