The acquisition was competitively bid through the TASB BuyBoard cooperative; Longhorn provided the lowest-cost quote among three proposals.
Administration said the purchase will reduce repair expenses for the aging SPED fleet, improve reliability, and expand safe transportation for students who require specialized accommodations. The board voted 7–0 to approve the purchase.
