Huachuca City Council schedules April 2 work session to study possible annexation

The Town of Huachuca City moved toward a preliminary study of possible annexation on March 26, 2026 when the council agreed to schedule a work session for April 2, 2026 to examine extending town services to adjacent areas.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey asked the council whether it wanted staff to evaluate annexation options for two areas: land along Highway 90 north of town, and properties in the 400 and 500 blocks of "Lower Huachuca City." Mayor Johann Wallace said he wanted the item returned so the council could "get a work session scheduled and really get into it" and council members settled on April 2 at 6 p.m. for that meeting.
Staff was directed to evaluate projected costs of extending water, sewer, roads and other services, to survey property-owners' interest in joining the town, and to analyze the potential benefits to current town residents. The work session will replace a previously scheduled CDBG work session; council intends to reconvene the CDBG discussion later.
