The FLORESVILLE ISD Board of Trustees unanimously adopted the district's 2026 Public Information Act (PIA) calendar at its Dec. 1 meeting after a presentation explaining how House Bill 3033 defines "business days" for public information requests.
"House Bill 3033, which was adopted in the 88th legislative session in 2023, formally defined the meaning of business days whenever it comes to public information requests," Dr. Gilstrap said while presenting the proposed calendar and the recommended designation of up to 10 additional non-business days. He walked trustees through maroon-marked federal and state holidays and orange-diamond days the administration proposed as non-business days (examples included certain Fridays, two days during spring break, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the last two days of the 2026 calendar).
Dr. Joel Odom moved to accept the administration's recommendation and Jason Saboda seconded; President Steven Shodrock announced the vote was 6–0 in favor. The district plans to post the adopted PIA calendar to its communications website and the board packet included the prior year's calendar for comparison.
