Superintendent Dr. Gilstrap told trustees that the Floresville Education Foundation recently awarded 67 teacher grants totaling $142,782.80, calling it a new high for a single year for the district.
"Prior to the Christmas break, the Floresville Education Foundation Prize Patrol awarded 67 grants for a total of a $142,782.80 to our teachers across the district," the superintendent said, noting the funds allow teachers to buy materials and experiences that go beyond the budgeted classroom resources. He said the foundation has awarded roughly $756,000 in teacher grants over the past 11 years.
The board thanked the foundation and named staff who coordinated outreach and distribution; the superintendent credited volunteers, campus groups and community partners for fundraising and supporting students during the holiday season.
