Board signs new daily-rate JJAEP arrangement with Karnes-Wilson County

Floresville ISD approved a new funding structure with the Karnes-Wilson County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program: instead of a $10,000 buy-in, districts will be charged $100 per day for district-placed students; board approved 4-0.
Miss Engel told trustees the JJAEP agreement changes the funding model from a flat $10,000 buy-in that bought 180 seats to a per-day charge: "$100 per day for any student that the district places in the JJAEP," she said, adding that county judges will cover mandatory court-ordered placements. The program will remain housed in the same facility and the district will not need a shared-employee agreement this year because the county is funding placements.
Administration recommended approval and the board voted unanimously. The new structure shifts certain costs to a per-placement model and administration said it should simplify billing for mandatory placements covered by the county.
