Petitioners say ZIP-code listings and a boundary ‘notch’ create confusion and social isolation for potential children

"So 95033 is known to be in the Loma Prieta District... they put it online that way," Gary Milliken said, noting a listing that identified his home as in Loma Prieta.
Pamela Milliken, a former school counselor, emphasized the social benefits of attending the same nearby school as neighbors and described practical challenges during a recent landslide closure of their road. She said mountain living makes after-school programs, carpooling and emergency coordination especially important and that being assigned to a different district from immediate neighbors could be "quite awful."
