The county's veterans service officer told commissioners he plans to step down at the end of the calendar year and proposed training a replacement so there would be overlap for knowledge transfer. He named Andrew Adams as the expected successor and asked the commission to begin recruitment so the new hire could be trained before Jan. 1.
Commissioners agreed to post the position internally for five days then externally, and to estimate the required additional appropriation for temporary clerical support. Chair asked staff to determine the dollar amount needed and present it as an additional appropriation for the current year so training and backfill coverage can be funded.
Commissioners requested that applications be accepted until the end of August, with interviews to follow, and directed staff to ensure the hiring timeline allowed for 2โ3 months of preliminary training before January.
