Health department staff told commissioners they have secured a US Department of Labor speaker to explain the PUMP Act and employees' rights during pregnancy and breastfeeding; the session is planned for Sept. 2 during the lunch hour and will be open to employers, school administrators and county managers.
The maternal-child health coordinator said the event would cover what employers must provide and what employees are entitled to; commissioners asked staff to distribute an attendance list and to consider making attendance highly recommended for department heads. The Chair asked staff to draft and circulate an email invitation to department heads and to log sign-in attendance for liability and training records.
Commissioners agreed that the training was appropriate and that staff should ensure department representation; they asked the health department to provide a short sign-off sheet to document managerial attendance.
