City and MEDC partner on hospitality workforce pilot with Workforce Solutions

Madison Clark, director of business retention and workforce development, said the City of McKinney and the EDC are partnering with Workforce Solutions in North Central Texas to stand up a pilot program called the Local Government Alliance focused initially on hospitality-sector jobs.
"We have gathered over 40 stakeholders... and that initial discovery meeting... over a 150 ideas were generated," Clark said, describing a planned follow‑up meeting to refine the hospitality focus, align partners and commitments, and build a timeline for implementation. She said the pilot aligns with fiscal 2026 city objectives to form at least one partnership with a community partner.
Board member Grimes added that the initiative is intentionally limited early on to roles that require fewer skills and to removing barriers—daycare and transportation were cited—as ways to make local labor more ready for employers. Clark and MEDC staff said the pilot is intended to be replicable across Workforce Solutions’ 14‑county service area if successful.
