City Secretary urges residents to apply for McKinney boards; deadline June 19

Empress Drain, McKinney City Secretary, told the Economic Development Corporation on April 21 that the city’s annual boards-and-commissions appointment process is underway and applications are due June 19.
"The deadline to apply is June 19 this year," Drain said. She described the online application, a posted report listing EDC member terms and eligibility, and an interview period in July with four sessions for eligible applicants.
Drain said about 150 seats across city boards may see vacancies this cycle and encouraged both incumbent members and interested residents to apply. She also asked prospective applicants to familiarize themselves with the Texas Open Meetings Act and the State Public Information Act as well as the city’s board-service policy.
Board members thanked Drain for the overview and had no additional questions. The City Secretary stood for follow-up questions and noted the report and application materials are available on the city’s official website.
