Resident asks to attend Brookfield gravel-pit inspection; chair says he will seek applicant permission

During the July 6 public hearing on an Intent to Excavate application, resident Jen McKown of 234 Governors Road asked whether the gravel-pit inspection for 2026 had already taken place and whether members of the public could attend future inspections.
"[Jen McKown] asked if the gravel pit had been inspected in 2026 yet and if she could attend the inspection when it occurs," according to the minutes. Chair Ed Ingalls responded that "the inspection had not been completed for 2026 yet, and that he would seek permission from Mr. Smith to allow members of the public to attend the inspection." The minutes record that Ingalls will seek the applicant's agreement to public attendance at any inspection.
The board did not decide on public-attendance rules for inspections at the July 6 session; any inspection and potential public attendance are dependent on Mr. Smith's agreement and the results of the inspection report to be presented at the continued hearing on August 10.
