Phil Nielsen introduced himself to the Hancock County Commission July 23 as the new director of the Mary H. Weir Library in Weirton. He thanked the county for its support and said he "has big shoes to step into" following the previous director's decades of service.
Nielsen said he and his wife moved from New Mexico, where he worked in libraries for roughly 15 years, and that they returned to the region to be closer to family. He thanked the commission for the county's support of libraries and said he looks forward to working with local stakeholders.
