Public health staff told the Anaconda Deer Lodge County Board of Health on March 27 that on-site septic systems and site evaluations "never slowed down with the warm winter," a sign of heavier-than-usual environmental-health workload heading into spring.
Staff said they have completed many mobile food plan reviews and are seeing an increase in newly licensed establishments and cottage food businesses, with more applications anticipated. The department plans to pursue licensing of tourist homes in the county and said staff will attend the Confluence conference in April for training and to review new legislation affecting local food operations.
Board members did not record extended debate on these items, and the department did not announce new fee or policy changes at the meeting. The update was presented as part of routine environmental health reporting and included a plan to continue monitoring the seasonal workload and regulatory developments.
