Board to seek public hearing on 5% increase to sanitary-district water and sewer rates

County Administrator Evan Vass briefed the Board on a proposed ordinance to raise water and sewer usage rates and connection fees by 5% for the Stoney Creek and Toms Brook–Maurertown sanitary districts. He said a rate study supports moving toward an enterprise fund that should be self-sustaining as expenses rise.
Vass explained that because the sanitary districts operate as an enterprise fund, the county expects them to support their costs and that the proposal will require a public hearing before adoption. No vote was taken; staff recommended scheduling the required public hearing and preparing the ordinance language for a future meeting.
