Public Works previews $1.23M Burma Road award, $96K engineering amendment and other infrastructure items

Eugenis said Amendment No. 7 to the RH2 engineering professional services agreement for the Toodle (also referred to as the Shadow Mountain) Water System Improvement Project would add $96,000 to the total authorized contract value to cover plan revisions required by a U.S. EPA grant and to provide engineering services during construction. "This amendment is adding $96,000 to the total authorized amount," she said, and noted the work covers US EPA grant requirements and construction support.
Eugenis also reported that the contract in lieu of retainage for the Burma Road/Tuttle Park Bypass was awarded about two weeks earlier to Tapani for a total of $1,234,000, and that a perpetual access easement with Raymond and Viola Clark would provide needed access to pig station number 1 for the county's leachate transmission line. Finally, she previewed a motion item to award a $167,700 bid to Western United Civil Group for a South Toutle Road headwall repair — work described as necessary to stabilize an aging structure that supports the roadway.
Eugenis said the headwall repair bid came in about $35,000 below the engineer's estimate and that the project uses local dollars; she added the county will pursue grant funding to replace an associated culvert in five to 10 years while doing interim repairs now to ensure roadway safety. These items were presented as agenda items to be considered; the transcript records presentation and preview rather than final board action during this session.
