Council reviews request to fund clean-gas fire suppression for city network center

Bridal Reed, the staff presenter, told the council the city prefers a local contractor already providing the city's fire and burglar monitoring to maintain consistency across facilities and recommended a sole-source waiver. Reed said the total authorization would be a not-to-exceed $75,000 to include owner contingency for potential issues with the older building's brickwork. "We did go over all the pricing received, and it is in line with expectations," Reed said.
Council members asked about testing and maintenance. Reed said the system requires annual testing and continuous monitoring so staff would be alerted to faults. No public commenters spoke against the project during the work session.
