City council adopts preservation plan; HLC to review Copeland Commons next month

City staff informed the Historic Landmarks Commission that the Astoria City Council adopted a 10-year preservation plan at its June 2 meeting. The plan was adopted as a non-regulatory advisory policy to guide future preservation efforts, grant applications and public engagement.
Tiffany Taylor said the commission received a thank-you note from a recent award recipient and that the preservation plan will serve as a guiding document for the next decade. Staff also announced that at the July 15 HLC meeting the commission will see the Copeland Commons project at 1159 Marine Drive, including both exterior alteration and design review applications because the proposed addition triggers overlay design review requirements.
The staff update was informational and no formal action was required at this meeting.
