Page County supervisors on June 15 approved a multi‑part funding package to address an updated FY2026 operating deficit reported by Page County Public Schools (PCPS).
County Administrator Amity Moler said PCPS staff now estimate a $1,020,000 need to complete FY26; a requested $82,679 transfer from the School CIP Fund would reduce the General Fund Balance request to $937,321. Moler told the Board that $511,986 of the total need is attributable to an overstatement of state revenue in prior estimates and higher pay/insurance costs, while $425,335 is expected to be recognized through year‑end accounting adjustments (accrued payables, wages and recognition of a prepaid textbook purchase). Moler also summarized other local, state and federal revenues reflected in the package.
Dr. Bryan Huber, Superintendent of PCPS, and Tanya Miller, PCPS Chief Financial Officer, presented a fiscal update. Dr. Huber said, "For FY26, PCPS faces a budget deficit of $1,020,000, which is down from their initial estimate of $1.4 million." He and Miller described FY27 mitigation strategies estimated to save $743,438 through staff and administrative reductions. The Board moved and approved the requested transfers and revenue adjustments, including an $830,363 reduction in state revenue, the $82,679 CIP transfer, $937,321 from the General Fund Balance and $276,511 in federal revenue recognized, producing $1,215,055 in available funding for school operations.
Supervisor Ryan Cubbage moved the package; the motion passed 6‑0.
