Land Bank director warns Church Street project and abatement work at risk if state funding is cut

Land Bank Director Kaleigh Flynn told the Finance Committee that the Wayne County Land Bank has applied with the County Economic Development Corporation for EPA Revolving Loan Fund assistance to support abatement activities and that the organization aims to complete the Church Street renovation project by the end of 2027. Flynn said the Land Bank has relied heavily on state Executive Budget funding in recent years, with minimal direct county contribution.
Flynn cautioned that the Governor’s Executive Budget does not include funding for land banks; she said outreach has been made to Senator Pam Helming and Assemblyman Brian Manktelow to seek restoration of the line item. She warned that if the funding is not reinstated there will be no additional initiative funding available for Land Bank activities.
