Council approves first reading of ordinance to prohibit trespass on private property and business premises

City Attorney Shawn Hagerty introduced a first-reading ordinance (Chapter 7.19, Title 7) proposed to prohibit trespass on private property and business premises. Captain Aldo Hernandez of the Santee Sheriff's Office assisted staff in answering enforcement and operational questions.
Mayor John W. Minto moved to approve the staff recommendation for first reading; Vice Mayor Rob McNelis seconded the motion. The council carried the motion unanimously (5-0). The ordinance will proceed through the standard ordinance-adoption process with subsequent readings as required by municipal rules.
