Humane Society site plan deferred as annexation and variances are finalized

Fort Defiance Humane Society presented a site plan on June 15 for a new facility at 25232 Elliott Road. The parcel is in the process of being annexed into the City and would be zoned M‑1 to allow kennel uses.
Representative Greg Bockrath noted the annexation is expected to be final by the end of August; the Commission agreed a sidewalk would be required and that variances will be necessary. City Engineer Melinda Sprow asked to see the final driveway spacing and suggested staff review shared access scenarios. Given outstanding engineering and subdivision items, the Commission approved a motion to "Let Lie," deferring the item and indicating it will return to the August meeting for further consideration.
Because the item was deferred, no final approvals or permits were issued at the June meeting.
