The Commission recommended that City Council approve a supplemental street vacation for approximately 0.62 acres along Jackson Street at the request of James K. Weaner, but required a modified survey before forwarding the request.
City Engineer Melinda Sprow said she was "not in favor of giving away public land" without a modified survey showing power poles or explaining their location, and asked that the power poles be included in the survey or that the applicant explain their omission. Law Director Sean O'Donnell noted that utilities retain rights to access their equipment even if the public right‑of‑way is vacated. The applicant had previously provided a written explanation to the Commission via email; Mr. Weaner was not present at the meeting.
The Commission approved a motion to recommend the supplemental vacation to Council with the condition that an amended survey be submitted.
