Trustees approved multiple facilities contracts related to Stevenson High School and the district’s transportation building.
Ed Farrell briefed the board on a floor abatement and replacement project at Stevenson High School after asbestos was found beneath classroom floors; a carpenter walkthrough is scheduled and the front of the SHS library will be replaced while crews are on site. Farrell also described plans to replace the transportation building roof with a contractor-proposed drain installation to reduce pooling; the transportation fund has roughly $75,000 available this fiscal year for that project. Farrell told trustees the HVAC work scheduled after the floor replacement would occur mainly in ceiling spaces to avoid damaging new flooring.
The board voted to approve the SHS asbestos abatement bid and the SHS floor replacement bid, and approved the bus garage roof bid. Board members discussed scheduling and possible impacts on groups that rent district facilities during construction; district staff will find alternate spaces while projects proceed.
