The board approved resolution 27-2526 to proceed with construction of two bus canopies at the Support Services Center, the installation of Level 3 electric vehicle charging stations, repaving of existing asphalt, and related site work. Staff told trustees that School Site Solutions Inc. prepared a CEQA analysis which concluded the project is categorically exempt under classes 1, 3, and 11 and that exceptions to categorical exemptions do not apply.
Miss Ortiz explained the benefits include charging infrastructure for anticipated electric buses, protection for vehicle paint via canopies, and extended asset life for the fleet. Trustees asked whether the canopies are primarily for charging or also for vehicle protection; staff said both functions are intended. The resolution and notice of exemption were adopted by roll call.
