The board approved revisions to the Santa Barbara County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) joint powers agreement, a measure staff said is necessary to maintain compliance with state and federal law and to formalize cooperation with local educational agencies.
Heather Anderson, the district's director of special education, told trustees the revisions update SELPA membership and governance and reflect the dissolution of the San Yones Valley Special Education Consortium and the planned addition of Peabody Charter School. She said the changes will take effect July 1, 2026, and recommended board approval of the resolution. The board voted to approve the item by roll call.
