Director reports 9% passenger increase in March; perimeter road completed to meet FAA inspection needs

Airport Director Todd Chatfield told the board April 21 that March passenger traffic totaled 5,882, a 9% increase compared with March 2025. He also reported Thunder Basin Aviation received 50,259 gallons of Jet A in March and no AvGas for the month.
Chatfield thanked board members and staff for timely completion of the 2025/2026 airport budget and said airport staff will meet with the County Commissioners and the County Clerk's Office around the first of May to present the budget. He reported the airport, with assistance from Road & Bridge, completed a perimeter road inside the fence to facilitate daily inspections the FAA has said are necessary for a secure perimeter.
Chatfield described the perimeter road as addressing practical inspection constraints given the airport's existing equipment and expressed gratitude to Road & Bridge for their support. He also confirmed the next Airport Board meeting is scheduled for May 19, 2026 at 4 p.m. at Thunder Basin Aviation Building 7.
