Olathe planning commission approves easement vacations for QuikTrip site; item heads to City Council

The Olathe Planning Commission unanimously approved a request to vacate five drainage easements and one utility easement at 14904 West 119th Street to accommodate a proposed QuikTrip store and fuel station.
Planner Morgan told commissioners that staff had met public-notification requirements, received one inquiry directed to staff and two to the applicant, and recommended approval with no stipulations. "This item will proceed to the October 7 City Council meeting," Morgan said. Staff said the vacations would accommodate construction of the new QuikTrip and that nearby utility providers had been contacted.
No members of the public signed up to speak during the public hearing. Commissioners closed the hearing and approved VAC25-2 on a roll-call vote recorded by the clerk; the motion passed 6-0. The commission noted the item will advance to City Council for final action on Oct. 7.
