"We haven't been able to insure it for a couple of years so we had to drop coverage on our building and contents," the treasurer said. The council member who moved the budget language said the center provides a valuable community service and that the range would allow staff to fit support into the city’s overall finances.
Staff said the budget work is ongoing and must be published in time for a public hearing and approval cycle; a budget study session was set for Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. and a public hearing is scheduled to allow council action by Sept. 8. The motion was made on the record but the transcript does not show a formal vote on the motion at this meeting.
