At its July meeting the Borough of New Milford adopted a capital ordinance appropriating $617,000 to install field lighting at Williams Field.
The clerk read the appropriation and noted the funding mix the ordinance identified: $148,000 from a state grant (referenced as the NJDDP Great Interest Grant in the transcript), a Bergen County Open Space Grant of $194,343 and $274,657 from the borough Open Space Trust Fund. No members of the public spoke during the hearing on this item. After closing the public comment period, the council voted to adopt the ordinance on final reading.
Council members and staff expressed appreciation for the community support and letters submitted during the project preparation phase that, according to the mayor, helped in securing these awards. A resolution to authorize engineering services for the lighting project also appears on the meeting agenda for follow-up implementation steps.
