Rachel Richards sworn in as Aspen mayor; new council makes board assignments

Rachel Richards was sworn in as Aspen’s mayor during a short ceremony on April 8 and then called the newly seated council to order to conduct organizational business and board appointments.
City Judge (S24) administered the oaths to Richards and incoming council members. After roll call, the council selected John Doyle as mayor pro tem. Councilors allocated regional board seats: Rachel Richards and John Doyle to the Colorado Association of Ski Towns; Rachel Richards designated for the Roaring Fork Transit Authority (RAFT/RAFTA) voting seat with Bill Guth as alternate; John Doyle was appointed as the city’s APCHA voting representative under a separate resolution. Other assignments included Christine Benedetti to Northwest Council of Governments with Sam Rose as alternate, and committee placements on the Board of Health and Nordic Council.
Councilors discussed which members could serve on daytime boards and the importance of transportation and housing priorities in upcoming meetings. A bundled resolution listing appointments was adopted by roll call, and the council closed the meeting with additional administrative resolutions and an adjournment vote.
