City officials and county staff met Sept. 18 to address repeated flooding at the City Animal Shelter, with Commissioners Joe Wilson and John Shorten and Road and Bridge Foreman Mike Reasoner attending. Reasoner advised that a 6-foot culvert south of the existing culvert would be "adequate and economical" for the site and documented the recommendation in an email to Lori Baldwin, Director and Manager of the shelter.
The recommendation remains a technical proposal; the minutes record discussion of the culvert option and related infrastructure needs but do not show a formal appropriation or construction schedule. County staff noted the culvert recommendation as a likely near-term mitigation while longer-term options are evaluated.
