The Scituate Town Council opened a public hearing and conducted a first reading of proposed amendments to Chapter 75, Article 4, Section 4.9 of the town code, which govern the floodplain district. Council President Collins noted procedural rules for the hearing and the council recorded a voice vote in favor of advancing the amendments at first reading.
"No no virtual participation on these public hearing items," Collins said during the council's handling of the ordinance, indicating that members of the public could not participate remotely for this matter. The council opened and then closed the hearing with no members of the public speaking; the transcript records the council's voice vote as "Aye," and the council chair said, "It passes." The matter will return for subsequent readings or final action according to the council's ordinance process.
