The Design Review Board on Oct. 15 recommended denial of a proposed two‑story residence at 7331 Southwest 64th Court, citing incomplete and inconsistent submittals and the applicant’s absence during the hearing.
Staff read the application into the record and noted the lot is a legal nonconforming width but otherwise meets dimensional allowances. Board members raised repeated concerns about the tree disposition form—several speakers said it lacked botanical (scientific) names, no clear invasive‑species markings, and missing canopy‑removal calculations and mitigation plans.
Mariano Corral led the critique, pointing to multiple inconsistencies and arguing that without botanical names and accurate tree‑condition data the board could not rely on staff to follow through. "Botanical name for every plant and every tree that's gonna be removed," he said, urging that the applicant supply condition and invasive status for each specimen.
After extended debate the board moved to recommend denial. The city attorney and staff reminded members that a DRB denial is an advisory recommendation and that staff will continue to process the application; a board record of denial will give staff stronger guidance about necessary corrections.
