During his director’s report, Tyron Steere summarized recent operational changes and equipment purchases. He said the department received a REAP CEP grant to help buy a six‑seater golf cart for program tours; the minutes record grant funds will be shy of $11,000 while the total cart cost is approximately $13,000. The board also purchased a John Deere 1025R tractor/mower (with fork and box blade attachments), and a Chevy 2500 HD pickup has been ordered for purchase in the next fiscal year with a new snowplow planned.
Tyron told the board that burn season concluded after about 10 burns this spring and that Wentland Woods has been surveyed and is awaiting deed transfer. He said bids were accepted for siding and concrete work at the Director’s Lodge and that a budget amendment will be prepared in May to cover the golf cart, a new touch screen, SILOs intern funding and salary line adjustments to cover seasonal intern wages.
