Coroner office relocation estimated to cost about $40,000 for upgrades

Dan Chatterton and Brent Culbertson briefed commissioners on the work necessary to relocate the coroner's office to the old public defender building. Brent Culbertson estimated the cost of required upgrades — including a large cooler, privacy slats on fencing, drains and updated plumbing fixtures — would be about $40,000.
County Clerk Cy Lootens told commissioners that, based on the estimate and other potential projects, there appear to be sufficient funds in the county building budget to cover the work. Commissioners asked Culbertson to solicit bids and Commissioner Howell said he would contact local mortuaries to assess assistance needs; commissioners will continue the discussion at a future meeting.
