Faribault County OKs MnDOT bridge grants totaling $375,122 to replace two county bridges

The Faribault County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two Local Bridge Replacement Program resolutions on March 17, 2026, authorizing grant agreements with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to repair and replace two county bridges.
Resolution 26-RB01-12 covers Bridge No. 22J73 on CSAH 8 with a grant amount determined by the low bid at $190,036.31; Resolution 26-RB02-14 covers Bridge No. 22J76 on CSAH 2 with a grant amount of $185,086.19. The board passed the motions with Commissioners Paschke, Young, Loveall, Anderson, and Acting Chair Groskreutz all voting yes.
The resolutions formally state that Faribault County will agree to MnDOT grant terms consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 174.50, and that the county will pay any amount by which actual costs exceed the estimate. County officers were authorized to execute the grant agreements with MnDOT. The board did not record additional conditions beyond the standard grant language.
Staff indicated funding was available through the state transportation fund and that the grant amounts were set “by reason of the lowest responsible bid,” language the board included in the adopted resolutions. The approvals allow procurement and project scheduling to proceed under the terms of the MnDOT agreements.
