She told the council she was "here on behalf of the Russell pool" and estimated roughly 70 people use the pool each day during the season. She asked the council to consider converting existing civic facilities into year-round aquatic space as a longer-term option rather than closing Russell Pool immediately.
The council thanked Hightower for her comments and noted the mayor has not yet presented a final plan for the site; staff and council said they would continue to collect community input as they evaluate options.
