Members of the Trussville Historical Board presented a proposal to create a self-guided heritage trail linking multiple local historic sites with interpretive signage, benches and a brochure finger-post at Heritage Hall.
Gary Lloyd, speaking for the historical board, described a set of eight primary interpretive sites (two sites at the mall area and three near the furnace and stadium), rendered sample signage and noted the group had received a quote of $8,050 for 11 signs and bases and estimated bench costs at roughly $600 per bench. The board suggested partnerships (Friends groups, the CHHF and regional heritage tourism grants) and asked public-works or parks staff to help with placement and installation if the council approves funding or in-kind support.
Board members emphasized the program’s goal: to bring local artifacts and stories out of the museum and into public spaces so more residents see Trussville’s history in everyday places. The board requested direction on permissions and potential installation support from public works.
