Council approves modified Mistletoe Madness street closure after business concerns

The Twisp Town Council approved a modified street-closure plan for the Chamber of Commerce—vent Mistletoe Madness after hearing concerns from a nearby business owner. Jeff Patterson, owner of Glover Street Market, urged the council to exclude the block in front of his store from the closure, saying past closures were disruptive and that placing vendors directly in front of his entrance hurt business.
Councilors adopted a set of changes: vendors on the north end will be moved down one block, performers will be moved to the north end, the closure time for the north end of the road (between 2nd and Twisp Ave) will be pushed to 2:30 p.m., and the Chamber will work with businesses on marketing. Council Member Tim Matsui moved to approve the modifications, Council Member Aaron Studen seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
"If the block is kept open it could be a win-win situation for everyone. It would increase traffic for both the businesses and the event," Jeff Patterson said during public comment. The council's modifications were designed to preserve pedestrian-event space while maintaining direct access to storefronts along the affected block.
