The council approved an amendment on Feb. 18 that shifts $665,000 within the Roberto Clemente Park capital program to fund playground improvements and a supplemental task authorization with Wright Construction Group for site and installation work.
Christine Tenney, director of financial services, told council that phase 2 (the amphitheater) and the playground remain funded within the larger Clemente Park allocation and that moving funds will not prevent both projects from being completed this fiscal year. "The playground equipment has been delivered or is in the process of being delivered," staff said; the council sought clarification about sequencing and guarantees that both projects would be completed within the program year.
Council members pressed for timeline assurances and details on the use of state funds previously identified for the playground. Staff said equipment orders are in place, construction pre‑services with Wright Construction are underway and a notice to proceed will be set once contractual items are executed. The motion carried with no opposition.
