Oxford residents pressed officials on officer jobs, pensions and police assets
Summary
Several Oxford residents asked whether senior officers would be offered comparable positions, what would happen to pensions and police assets, and how hiring and governance would be handled if Oxford joins the regional department; officials said pensions should roll over and assets would be assessed and retained by the borough if registered to it.

Multiple Oxford residents used the public-comment period to press officials for concrete answers about personnel, pensions and the fate of municipal assets if the borough joins the regional police. Jennifer Patton asked, "Are we opening Pandora's box?" and sought clarity on whether Oxford officers would keep jobs or be required to reapply. Mary Ann Reese asked whether higher-ranked officers "have to be a patrolman again?" and who would be responsible for paying off any existing contracts.
Chief Greenwalt and township staff said many of those outcomes depend on labor negotiations and individual officer choices: eligible retirees would not lose pension benefits, and officers who want to transfer are welcome to do so but may be subject to hiring and assignment processes. On assets, staff said vehicles registered to the borough generally remain the borough's asset and can be sold or added to the regional inventory on mutually agreed terms. Several residents asked for more specifics and noted they wanted to keep "our men" — local officers familiar to the community — if possible.
