The Hillsboro Community Unit School District #3 Board of Education voted 4-0 on Oct. 8, 2024 to approve several items including pay request #11 to O'Shea Builders in the amount of $1,858,908.18 and the addition of an Honors Physical Science course at Hillsboro High School.
Superintendent Powell asked the board to approve the pay request, noting the specific amount: "pay request #11 to O'Shea Builders in the amount of $1,858,908.18." The meeting also included adoption of PRESS policy revisions (Issues 115 and 116) on second reading and several personnel actions following an executive session. Principal Frailey reported that the district's new attendance reward program is “off to a great start,” with student attendance up 35 percent from last year.
The board approved employment items that followed executive session, including Amber Connor as HHS prom coordinator and two teaching assistants. The board also approved a volunteer wrestling coach. The meeting was called to order by Vice‑President Nathan Kirby at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
