Public Works Supervisor Travis Yost reported Oct. 14 that 70 fire hydrants have been tested and will be retrofitted for Storz fittings over time due to cost. He said paving work will resume and crews aim to finish before the town's Halloween festival; the minutes record that the town met with Hope Gas and Ethos Construction and planned to move in the following day.
Mayor Rezin Hudkins told the council he personally tagged 15 poles on Buckhannon Pike as a priority for streetlight repairs and encouraged residents to report outages with pole numbers. Public Works also flagged a concern about potential unmetered water use by oil-and-gas industry trucks drawing from hydrants and requested awareness of unexpected water loss.
