Students report one lunch period, dual-sport option and new Student Support program

Student representatives reported several student-life changes and activities to trustees. Alex Casanas said the high school transitioned from two lunch periods to one this year and praised the change: students "like having the one lunch period so that they can eat lunch with their friends." He noted alternatives for quiet study such as the library and described a new Student Support program supervised by staff for students needing study time.
Matthew Badal updated athletics: golf has two weeks until regionals; the district added two new volleyball coaches and two new golf coaches; soccer field benches and lighting upgrades were completed and the maintenance team received praise for the improvements. He also described a new dual-sport participation policy permitting students to play on two teams simultaneously if they check in daily with coaches to communicate schedules.
The FFA hosted a petting zoo at the Sandwich Fair and the middle school officially signed its charter, items the student reps highlighted as community and school milestones.
