Public works staff described a FEMA-funded project for the Red Spring Run bridge in the Canisteo area and asked the board to authorize funding from the road fund balance. "That's the engineer's estimate, and that was what was approved by FEMA," the presenter said, and asked the board to commit $1,291,834.44 from the road fund balance to proceed.
Commissioners pressed on whether cost escalation or fuel prices would create overruns; staff replied that because this is a FEMA large project (over $1,000,000), FEMA reimburses eligible costs and will pay differences if the project runs over the estimate. The motion to fund the FEMA project from the road fund was moved, seconded and carried.
